County works to save storm-sopped records

GREENVILLE — Washington County officials are seeking ways to preserve records that were damaged after rainwater leaked into the courthouse during a torrential overnight storm Oct. 5.

At last week’s board of supervisors meeting, Chancery Clerk Marilyn Hansell and Board Attorney Frank Power said water entered the first and second floors of the courthouse, soaking several record books.
