City’s historic district opt-out clause is legal

GREENVILLE — After seeking an answer regarding the legality of the opt-out clause of the local historic district, the Joint Greenville Washington County Historic Preservation Commission finally got their answer — the ordinance is legal.

On Jan. 30, Chuck Rubisoff, the state’s assistant attorney general, sent a letter to Walley Morse, coordinator between the commission and MDAH, and Princella Nowell, the former chair of the commission.
