LELAND- After a valiant surge to take the lead in a low scoring game, the Leland Cubs ran out of gas in the final quarter to fall 37-35 to the Coahoma County Panthers Tuesday night. Panthers senior guards Bentavious Galmore and Trumaine Jones led a fourth quarter charge where they out scored the Cubs 11-9.

LELAND — The home standing Leland Cubs (1-9) couldn’t sustain their offensive efficiency and competitive fire for four quarters as they fell to the Gentry High School Rams 68-58 Saturday night. The Cubs kept the game close and took a couple of second half leads only to see Gentry regain control.
The O’Bannon Greenwaves beat the South Delta Bulldogs 55-53 in a thriller that went down to the wire Tuesday night.
With the score tired at 53-53 and seven seconds remaining in the game, Grenwaves junior guard Joshua Curtis took an inbounds pass and raced the length of the floor scoring the game winning layup.
In perhaps the Delta’s most hotly contested non district rivalry, the Gentry High School Rams boys swept the Greenville High Hornets 59-42 in the Highway 82 series. Hornets fans had reason to hope from the opening tip as senior guard Morgan Green secured a wayward ball and made an uncontested layup for the first basket of the game.
The St. Joseph Catholic School Lady Irish (3-0) kept their distance over the final three quarters of Thursday night’s high school basketball game to claim a 55-47 victory over the St. Aloyisus Lady Lady Flashes.
St. Al closed to within three points of St. Joe at 33-30 in the opening minutes of the third quarter.
