The annual Native American Days at the Winterville Mounds, an always exciting event for Washington County youth, is quickly approaching.

The three-day event presents an exhilarating opportunity for students to learn about Native American life through crafts, pottery, basket-making, dancing and more.

LELAND — There’s only a week left for folks to hop on over to Leland for a day of live music and family fun at the Frog Fest and Highway 61 Blues Festival.

In lieu of this year’s canceled Mighty Mississippi Music Festival, the 20th annual Highway 61 Blues Festival is returning to its home base of Leland.






Greenville’s newest hotel, Tru by Hilton, opens its doors Thursday

Tru by Hilton, Greenville’s newest lodging attraction, is set to open its doors to guests Thursday evening. 

The 84-room hotel that broke ground in July 2018 is a joint partnership formed by the Chawla and Retzer families — Suresh Chawla, Mike Retzer and Michael Retzer.




Hollandale’s Sam Chatmon Blues Festival kicks off in less than a week

HOLLANDALE — As festival season carries on, people in Hollandale are looking to keep the Delta blues merriment going with the annual Sam Chatmon Blues Festival.

Free to the public, this musically jammed packed event is being held for a 23rd time and folks are plenty excited.


Winterville Mounds hosting fourth annual meeting Sunday

The Winterville Mounds Association (WMA) is having its fourth annual meeting at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Winterville Mounds Museum.

Principal Chief Hutke Fields of the Notchie (Natchez) Nation will be the featured speaker.  

Native American foods will be served, and annual dues and donations will be collected at the meeting.
