Old Man River is making its descent after staying just above flood stage for a couple weeks.

The Mississippi River on the Greenville gauge reached above flood stage March 29 and crested at 48.6 feet on April 2, where it stayed for a couple weeks.

Man found dead in apartment after being shot several times

Greenville police are searching for the person responsible for a man who was found shot and killed in an apartment.

At 1:35 a.m. Monday at Nottingham Apartments in the 1600 block of South Beauchamp Avenue, the Greenville Police Department received a call about a shot person.

River now cresting at 47 feet by March 31

Old Man River’s expected crest has continued to rise, and Mississippi Levee Board officials say they still don’t foresee any issues as a result of the water levels.

The river is expected to crest at 47 feet, which is one foot under the 48-foot flood stage, on March 31.

Judge dismisses murder charges one day after man surrenders himself to police

One day after Takendre Edmond surrended himself to police for the shooting death of another man, Judge Michael Prewitt has dismissed his first degree murder charges.

Edmond, 25, surrendered himself to the Greenville Police Department on Sunday afternoon for shooting and killing 43-year-old Latarous Harris on Saturday.

A man has turned himself in for the shooting of a man found dead in his car this weekend.

Takendre Edmond, 25, surrendered himself to the Greenville Police Department Sunday afternoon for shooting and killing 43-year-old Latarous Harris on Saturday.

Leland under boil water alert until further notice

LELAND — A Boil Water Alert for the residents of Leland went into effect Tuesday morning.

The alert, which began due to a break in a main water line, remains in effect until further notice.

All water should be boiled before consumption until the advisory has been lifted.

$500K bond set for man charged with capital murder

A half million dollar bond was set this week for the man who shot and killed another during an argument.

The $500,000 bond for 18-year-old Fabulous Carter, who remains in custody, was set Monday by Judge Michael Prewitt.

Carter was charged with Capital Murder for the Jan. 26 shooting of 21-year-old Laquint Johnson.

Argument ends in gunfire, leaving 1 man dead

One man is now dead after an argument that escalated and ended in gunfire.

At 11:22 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, officers with the Greenville Police Department responded to a call in reference to a shot person in the 300 block of South Beauchamp Avenue.

Police investigate shooting of man found dead in vehicle

Greenville Police are investigating the death of a man who was found shot in a vehicle this week.

At about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, officers of the Greenville Police Department responded to a shot person call in the block of 300 block of West Alexander Street, according to assistant police chief Michael Merchant.
