A Greenville man has been charged with murder for the shooting death of his wife this week, making it the eighth homicide in the city this year.
At 10:15 p.m. Monday, May 10, officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the Mark Apartments, 481 Cypress Lane, in reference to a shot person.
“Upon arrival, they observed a black female who appeared to have been shot,” said Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant.
The 41-year-old woman, whose name has not been released by police due to pending family notifications, was transported to Delta Health System-The Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.
The victim’s husband, 42-year-old black male Anthony Lee, was arrested on scene. The shooting took place during a dispute between the couple, according to Merchant.
“During the struggle, the firearm was discharged and the victim was struck,” he said.
Lee has been charged with murder. He does not have a bond at this time.
