A 64 year-old black male was shot Saturday night in the 400th block of Sunflower Street, near Doe’s Eat Place, Greenville. Just before 11 p.m. the Greenville Police Department responded to a call in reference to a shot person, whose name is being held pending family notification.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim laying in the street with apparent wounds from a gun shot.
According to the GPD, emergency medical personnel responded and were unsuccessful in attempts to save the life.
Washington County Coroner Methel Johnson was dispatched and pronounced the subject deceased.
Assistant Chief Michael Merchant said there is no information regarding a suspect at this time.
“Investigators are currently following up on leads,” Merchant said. “We will provided more information as it becomes available. “
