Local police are searching for the people involved in stealing a vehicle and evading police pursuit.
At about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, police officers were in pursuit of a stolen white Mercedes-Benz along Highway 82 East.
According to Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant, the vehicle was occupied by two people, a black male and a black female.
The vehicle was pulled over during a traffic stop in the 3100 block of Highway 82 East.
“Once officers approached, the vehicle sped away,” Merchant said.
The vehicle traveled on Highway 82 before turning south on Colorado Street.
The vehicle continued on Colorado and turned westbound on George Abraham Boulevard.
Once the vehicle arrived at Highway 1 South, it turned around and continued back on George Abraham.
“Due the the reckless disregard for other citizens, the pursuit was terminated,” he said.
