Vaccine-resistant COVID-19 strain detected in Mississippi

A more infectious and vaccine-resistant variant strain of COVID-19 was detected in Mississippi on Friday. One person in Harrison County was found to be infected with the B.1.351 variant, which was discovered in South Africa in December and reached the United States in January.

COVID-19 vaccines available at Delta Regional Health Clinic

COVID-19 vaccines are now available at the Delta Regional Health Clinic, 300 S. Washington Ave. Call 662-344-9100 to schedule an appointment. The hours are 8-11:30 a.m. Monday and Wednesday; 8-11:30 a.m. and 1-4:30 p.m. Thursday; and 8-11:30 a.m. Friday. Appointments are required and people must bring a copy of their insurance cards.

Greenville police are investigating the remains of a human body discovered on Christmas Day.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department got a call from a concerned resident shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday about human remains found in a wooded area in the 700 block of Clay Street. A firearm was also found next to the body.
