Budget? What budget?

We don’t like it when our government officials spend more than they allot themselves to spend in a year on any budgeted item.

And, as pointed out in a story in this weekend’s newspaper, one line item in the Washington County Board of Supervisors has seen a significant stretch of the budget.

Plans underway for 2 out of 40 closed county bridges

County engineers are in the process of assembling a plan for all bridges currently closed in Washington County for submission to the Office of State Aid Road Construction’s (OSARC) state aid projects.

The Washington County Board of Supervisors were informed of the plan at their regular Monday meeting.

Temple Baptist Church members issued $500 tickets for parking lot service

The phone rang at the mayor’s office earlier this week and the voice on the line said, “We’re having church on Wednesday, no matter what.”

The caller, according to Greenville Mayor Errick Simmons, claimed to be the pastor of Temple Baptist Church on Reed Road in Greenville.




Greenville’s newest hotel, Tru by Hilton, opens its doors Thursday

Tru by Hilton, Greenville’s newest lodging attraction, is set to open its doors to guests Thursday evening. 

The 84-room hotel that broke ground in July 2018 is a joint partnership formed by the Chawla and Retzer families — Suresh Chawla, Mike Retzer and Michael Retzer.
