Our students need great teachers, we should try to keep them

I have the utmost respect for educators as it is a career I never want to be in. Teachers, without a doubt, don’t get the credit they deserve. Not only do they sit with a class full of children who come from various backgrounds to teach them the same lessons, they also deal with the constant pressures of district and state testing.

Azar seeking local talent for ‘The Banality’ film

Area residents are invited to participate in an upcoming film production starring actor Chris Mulkey being directed by a former local youth.

Strack Azar, son of local country star musician Steve Azar, and Michael Stevantoni have written and are co-directing an original feature film titled, “The Banality.”


Girls Write the World offers spring writers retreat

Young female writers from all over Washington County will converge in Greenville this May for Girls Write the World’s annual Writers’ Retreat. This year’s retreat theme, “If I Dare to be Powerful” will feature poetry writing classes and empowerment workshops  designed to foster creativity and confidence in young women.


Plans underway for Camp Renaissance

Building upon the organization’s legacy of serving Greenville-area middle school students for the past 12 years, Greenville Renaissance Scholars is excited to announce open recruitment for camp director, teachers, and rising 5th to 9th grade (current 4th to 8th grade) “Scholars” to be part of Camp Renaissance 2019.
