The Greenville Public School board had to make this decision.

Once they decided a few weeks back that children at their schools would not be allowed to attend in-person algebra or biology classes because of COVID-19, there was no way they could, with a straight face, allow their children to be on the football field.

Police investigate human remains found on Christmas Day

Greenville police are investigating the remains of a human body discovered on Christmas Day.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department got a call from a concerned resident shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday about human remains found in a wooded area in the 700 block of Clay Street. A firearm was also found next to the body.

Feds back Temple Baptist Church, Simmons stands firm on order

After fines were levied against members of Temple Baptist Church for holding a drive-in church service, the Alliance for Defending Freedom filed a civil suit in the Northern District Court of Mississippi on Good Friday, April 10.

The federal government, through the Department of Justice, issued a statement of interest Tuesday.

Greenville mayor rescinds church citations; ordinance remains intact

Parishioners ticketed for holding a drive-in service April 8 at  Temple Baptist Church will not have to pay the $500 fine issued in violation of Greenville Mayor Errick Simmons’ executive order restricting indoor and drive-in church gatherings due to the coronavirus pandemic.
