St. Joseph's Dillon Johnson named Delta-Democrat Times Player of the Year and the Planters Bank Player of the Week

These were the four words Dillon Johnson and his St. Joseph Catholic School teammates used to motivate themselves moments before the MAIS Class 2A State Championship game began Saturday night inside the gymnasium of Sylva-Bay Academy.



Reunited, it feels so good

The summer I turned 13, my mom said I needed an activity to keep me busy during the months between school. My friend’s mom suggested we do the summer youth musical at Delta Center Stage. I thought it was the worst idea and I wanted nothing to do with it. Shy and more awkward than I am now, I cringed at the idea.

Less than a week away from opening night, “Little Shop of Horrors” presented by Delta Center Stage (DCS) is set to debut at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Jake and Freda Stein Hall at E.E. Bass Cultural Arts Center, 323 S. Main St.


St. Joseph runs away from Claiborne in South State Quaterfinals

St. Joseph Fighting Irish head coach James Hunter knew that Thursday night’s 68-51 win over Claiborne County in the quarterfinals of the South State Tournament was bittersweet. His starters played so well in the first half that from the opening play of the second half, officials invoked mercy rule and allowed the clock to run uninterrupted.

Police investigate human remains found on Christmas Day

Greenville police are investigating the remains of a human body discovered on Christmas Day.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department got a call from a concerned resident shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday about human remains found in a wooded area in the 700 block of Clay Street. A firearm was also found next to the body.
