The Greenville Public School District has appointed a new member to its board of trustees.
At Tuesday’s Greenville City Council meeting, Antoinette Williams was appointed as a trustee to GPSD’s board for a five-year term.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department are investigating a one-vehicle wreck that left a pedestrian dead.
At 6:17 p.m. Wednesday, police were dispatched to the 2500 block of Highway 82 East in reference to a wreck.
Sometime since Thursday of last week, vandals got on to the property at Warfield Point Park and caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to the electrical system.
“It looks like a clean cut,” Donald Davis, building and grounds director at Warfield Point Park, said. “They looked to be stealing copper.”
Incumbents held on to each of their seats except in the District 4 supervisor vote won by Mala Brooks by a mere 13 votes over incumbent Jesse Amos. The more than 700 absentee ballots have yet to be counted in any races as of press time.
Of the 32,026 registered voters in Washington County, 11001 cast ballots in the Tuesday election.

GREENVILLE — Ethel Juanita Hughes Edwards, 88, died Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at Clinton Healthcare, Clinton.
She was born Feb. 14, 1931, in Charleston. She was a member of the New Life Church in Greenville.
