Local man dead after being shot Sunday night

At about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, officers with the Greenville Police Department were called to the 300 block of North Steele Lane in reference to a shot person.

1 man arrested in connection to shooting child
By CATHERINE KIRK CKIRK@DDTONLINE.COM,A man is behind bars for a shooting that sent a 12-year-old girl to a Jackson hospital, and more arrests are expected to follow.
On Monday, GPD officers arrested 21-year-old Kelvin Lewis in the 500 block of South Broadway Street.
Lewis was arrested in connection to the early Sunday morning shooting on Eighth Street.

Washington County election: no upsets
By STAFF REPORT,In the Washington County Primaries, there were no upsets of sitting elected officials. Incumbent, and unopposed Circuit Clerk Barbara Esters-Parker garnered the highest vote total of 5,066. The largest margin in a contested race went to Sheriff Milton Gaston at 4,488 votes or 83.42%.
