Young Bulldogs have potential but will require patience says Riverside’s Ellis

AVON — Now in his 18th spring coaching high school baseball, Boo Ellis has been through this before.

Ellis, the coach at Riverside High School, has won 326 baseball games as a head coach. This season will be one of the year’s he has a young and inexperienced team, meaning he will have to show lots of patience. 




South Delta Planning & Development helping county apply for 2020 CDBG through MDA

With the assistance of South Delta Planning & Development District, Washington County will be applying for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

The Washington County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to adopt a resolution to apply for a fiscal year 2020 CDBG through the Mississippi Development Authority.

Teen arrested for shooting that injured man in store

A teenager has been arrested and charged for a shooting this week that injured a man at a local store.

Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant said 18-year-old Romeo Hurt, of Greenville, was identified as the suspect who shot into a store in the 900 block of St. Charles Street shortly after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Greenville - Funeral services for Walter Howard Sr., 94, of Greenville, will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Greenville, Saturday April 27 at 10 a.m. Father Tom Mulley will be officiating. Visitation is from 2-5 p.m. at Byas Funeral Home, Greenville and 6-7 p.m. at Rosary.
