GPSD approves reopening plan for first nine weeks

 The Greenville Public School District’s plan of a virtual reopening for the first nine weeks of the academic year was approved Thursday evening at a special meeting of the GPSD board of trustees.

This means instruction will take place strictly online as students engage in virtual or “distance” learning.

Mrs. Edwards was born on March 15, 1924, in Burns.  She attended Starkville High School and Mississippi State College and received her Master of Education degree from Delta State University.

Teen arrested for shooting that injured man in store

A teenager has been arrested and charged for a shooting this week that injured a man at a local store.

Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant said 18-year-old Romeo Hurt, of Greenville, was identified as the suspect who shot into a store in the 900 block of St. Charles Street shortly after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Greenville - Funeral services for Walter Howard Sr., 94, of Greenville, will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Greenville, Saturday April 27 at 10 a.m. Father Tom Mulley will be officiating. Visitation is from 2-5 p.m. at Byas Funeral Home, Greenville and 6-7 p.m. at Rosary.
