PACC assists local youth groups in helping others

Two local youth groups kicked off their Thanksgiving break by giving a noble gesture of their own — their time and service.

Sponsored by the Progressive Art and Civic Club (PACC) Youth Affiliates, the Esquires and Teenettes spent their Monday morning volunteering at Port City Personal Care and Respite Services.

There was a meeting of the minds Tuesday to discuss how the goals of increased enrollment at Mississippi Valley State University, a strong work force in Washington County and greater access to educational opportunities could be achieved with the Greenville Higher Education Center (GHEC) serving as the catalyst for reaching those goals.

Volunteers sought for 2019 Delta Veterans Stand Down

The 2019 Delta Veterans Stand Down isn’t taking place for another few months, but organizers are seeking volunteers to assist at the event.

Gulf Coast Veterans Advocacy Council co-chairman Kenny Magee said while financial donations are welcomed and highly appreciated, they need food and volunteers to assist the veterans.

HOLLANDALE — Funeral services for Wanda Dees, 72, of Hollandale will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Hollandale Baptist Church. She passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019.  Burial will be in the Hollandale City Cemetery, under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.

Greenville police officers located Tarus Dandridge, a 41 year-old black male, who was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency medical personnel and Washington County Coroner Methel Johnson.
