Veterans Stand Down, Veterans Day Parade approaching, help needed

The 2019 Delta Veterans Stand Down is only a few days away, and organizers are seeking volunteers to assist at the event.

Gulf Coast Veterans Advocacy Council co-chairman Kenny Magee said while financial donations are welcomed and highly appreciated, they need food and volunteers to assist the veterans.

Hornets fall to Starkville

Greenville High School head coach Quintarus McCray said he was proud of the way his team battled back in the second half Friday night in the Hornets’ 49-26 homecoming loss to Starkville High School.

The Hornets trailed Starkville 43-8 at halftime, but kept fighting and battling in the game’s final two quarters.

LELAND — There’s only a week left for folks to hop on over to Leland for a day of live music and family fun at the Frog Fest and Highway 61 Blues Festival.

In lieu of this year’s canceled Mighty Mississippi Music Festival, the 20th annual Highway 61 Blues Festival is returning to its home base of Leland.

Teen arrested for shooting that injured man in store

A teenager has been arrested and charged for a shooting this week that injured a man at a local store.

Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant said 18-year-old Romeo Hurt, of Greenville, was identified as the suspect who shot into a store in the 900 block of St. Charles Street shortly after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
