GPSD closes Em Boyd after employee tests positive for COVID-19

The Greenville Public School District (GPSD) announced on Tuesday an Em Boyd Elementary School employee tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

In light of this information, Em Boyd, 1021 S. Colorado St., will close immediately.

Superintendent Dr. Debra Dace said the district shares its concerns about coronavirus.

In lieu of this year’s canceled Mighty Mississippi Music Festival, the 20th annual Highway 61 Blues Festival is returning to its home base of Leland.

Charter School application in process for new Greenville school

An effort to provide an additional education option is underway in Greenville as preparations to apply for a charter school license have been made.
Reggie Whitley has started the process of creating a charter school, Relentless Preparatory Academy, with the Mississippi Department of Education Authorizing Board.
