6 people shot over Independence Day weekend

The Greenville Police Department is seeking the public’s help to find the people responsible for two shootings that left six people injured over the Fourth of July weekend.

At 4:03 p.m. July 4, officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to King Stop, 207 Highway 1 N., in reference to two shot people.





Boykin resigns from Ward 3

Greenville City Council Member Bill Boykin, who suffered a stroke in March, has presented the Greenville City Council with a letter announcing his intention to resign his position.

Ward 3 has not had representation on the council as Boykin has been unable to attend meetings since the stroke.

Hebrew Union Temple to honor history at Hanukkah celebration

The Mississippi Delta’s Jewish population may be small, but the heart of their annual Hanukkah celebration is not.

“It’s a festive luncheon,” said Rabbi Debra Kassoff of the Hebrew Union Temple in Greenville. Hanukkah this year starts at sunset Dec. 22 and ends at nightfall Dec. 30. 


Greenville police seek public’s help after man found dead in vacant lot

Local police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found lying in a vacant lot Tuesday morning.

Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant said officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched at about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday for a welfare concern call.
