10-year-old Jonathan Bates begins racing career at Gumbo Nationals

Ten-year-old Jonathan Bates Jr. has a fearless personality just like his father and grandfather. It is why he has a love of racing cars and why he is not afraid to keep racing against better competition.

Bates started racing go karts a few years ago, but he has done so well that he is already moved up to race against grown adults.

GREENVILLE — Memorial services for Anthony “Quinn Whonye” Windom, 46, of Greenville, will be at noon Saturday, Oct. 12, at Rounds Neighborhood Center, Greenville. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Home, Rolling Fork.

James Ceranti Chrysler will be hosting their Chrysler Cars 4 Classrooms fundraiser for Sanders Elementary in Hollandale, Lakeside Elementary in Lake Village, Arkansas, and Weddington Elementary in Greenville.

LELAND — There’s only a week left for folks to hop on over to Leland for a day of live music and family fun at the Frog Fest and Highway 61 Blues Festival.

In lieu of this year’s canceled Mighty Mississippi Music Festival, the 20th annual Highway 61 Blues Festival is returning to its home base of Leland.
