Wave seniors leave behind a true legacy brotherhood

One third of the O’Bannon Greenwaves boys’ basketball team played their final home game on Friday night. Kaylon Swilley, Octavia Wilson, Zion Jessie, Curtis Austin, Javorious Jackson and Kentarious Castion exit the program leaving a legacy that will either have the faithful saying, “what if” or “they put it together just at the right time.”


St. Joseph runs away from Claiborne in South State Quaterfinals

St. Joseph Fighting Irish head coach James Hunter knew that Thursday night’s 68-51 win over Claiborne County in the quarterfinals of the South State Tournament was bittersweet. His starters played so well in the first half that from the opening play of the second half, officials invoked mercy rule and allowed the clock to run uninterrupted.

Mound Bayou – Funeral services for Lavorne L. Jones, 72, of Mound Bayou, are 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, at First Baptist Church, Merigold. She died Jan. 26, 2019, at Bolivar Medical Center, Cleveland. Burial follows in Calvary Cemetery, Renova, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Cleveland.

Anthony Smith has been charged with murder and possession of firearm by a convicted felon.

Greenville police officers located Tarus Dandridge, a 41 year-old black male, who was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency medical personnel and Washington County Coroner Methel Johnson.
