O’Bannon’s Zion Jessie captures Planters Bank Player of the Week

O’Bannon High School’s Zion Jessie, the Planters Bank Player of the Week, is one of only eight seniors on this year’s Greenwaves team. It is his job to set an example for the players on his young team. Despite the early set backs this season for O’Bannon, Jessie has always worked hard at getting better.

ELIZABETH - Funeral services for Peter Pope, 84, of Elizabeth, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Bush Fu­neral Services, Leland, with the Rev. Arthur Thomas offi­ciating. He passed away Sun­day, Oct. 20, 2019, at his home. Burial will be in Sisters of Charity Cemetery, Eliza­beth.

Woman charged with attempted murder after fight at gas station

A woman turned herself in to the Greenville Police Department Wednesday afternoon for a violent fight that broke out Tuesday night at a local gas station.

Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant said 34-year-old Jacquetia Davis has been charged with attempted murder for an altercation involving beer bottles and a firearm.
