In an effort to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Mayor Simmons and City Council have issued two new executive orders on church services and city wide curfew.

The phone rang at the mayor’s office earlier this week and the voice on the line said, “We’re having church on Wednesday, no matter what.”
The caller, according to Greenville Mayor Errick Simmons, claimed to be the pastor of Temple Baptist Church on Reed Road in Greenville.

Family members of the deceased said she was initially tested on March 24. She had a slight headache and other symptoms.
A teenager has been arrested and charged for a shooting this week that injured a man at a local store.
Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant said 18-year-old Romeo Hurt, of Greenville, was identified as the suspect who shot into a store in the 900 block of St. Charles Street shortly after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Greenville - Funeral services for Walter Howard Sr., 94, of Greenville, will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Greenville, Saturday April 27 at 10 a.m. Father Tom Mulley will be officiating. Visitation is from 2-5 p.m. at Byas Funeral Home, Greenville and 6-7 p.m. at Rosary.
Incumbents held on to each of their seats except in the District 4 supervisor vote won by Mala Brooks by a mere 13 votes over incumbent Jesse Amos. The more than 700 absentee ballots have yet to be counted in any races as of press time.
Of the 32,026 registered voters in Washington County, 11001 cast ballots in the Tuesday election.
Greenville - Funeral services for Lonnie Jones, 73, of Jacksonville, Florida formerly of Greenville, are pending with T.L. Redmon Funeral Home, Cleveland.
He passed at his residence April 14 and will be buried under the direction of T.L. Redmon Funeral Home, Cleveland.

MOORHEAD — Funeral services for Diane Robinson Johnson, 65, of Moorhead, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at Trinity House of Prayer, Moorhead. She died Monday, July 15, 2019, at her home. Burial will be at Indianola Memorial Garden, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Indianola.
