Turner no longer city’s zoning and planning department director

After half a year at the helm, Mack-Arthur Turner Jr. will no longer lead the city's planning and zoning department.

Decided by a majority vote of the city council, Turner will no longer serve as the director of planning and zoning for the City of Greenville, effectively immediately.




Concerned residents on agenda to address BOS at Tuesday meeting

Concerned residents of Washington County are planning to be present at Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting to discuss some recent appointments made at the first meeting of year.  

For those who would like to speak, concerned residents have been added to the agenda to address the board at 9:30 a.m.

Police investigate human remains found on Christmas Day

Greenville police are investigating the remains of a human body discovered on Christmas Day.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department got a call from a concerned resident shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday about human remains found in a wooded area in the 700 block of Clay Street. A firearm was also found next to the body.

City residents to pay for trash pickup starting in October

Monday’s Greenville City Council special budget session sparked a voting difference between the council members about charging for trash pickup.

The City of Greenville, compared to other cities throughout the Delta, has never charged to pick up trash in the city, but that’s about to change.

Local teen charged in uncle’s stabbing death

A Greenville teenager is behind bars for the stabbing death of his uncle.

At 1:13 p.m. Monday, July 15, officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the 1200 block of Belfast Street. Inside the home, officers found the body of a 37-year-old black male, who has been identified as Jermaine Sanders.

Man arrested, charged for Friday night shooting that left 1 dead, 1 injured

A man has been charged with murder for a shooting that left one man dead and another in critical condition.

At 11:30 p.m. Friday, officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of West Alexander Street in reference to two shot people.
