GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Ola Mae Wilson were at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 13, at Emmanuel Baptist Church. She passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at Delta Regional Medical Center, after an extended illness. Burial was in Greenville Cemetery, under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Greenville police are investigating the remains of a human body discovered on Christmas Day.
Officers with the Greenville Police Department got a call from a concerned resident shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday about human remains found in a wooded area in the 700 block of Clay Street. A firearm was also found next to the body.
Downtown Greenville received significant damage after early Saturday morning’s storms that blew through the area.
Both Mayor Errick Simmons and Gov. Phil Bryant on Saturday declared a state of emergency for the City of Greenville as a result of the storm damages.
Local police say the man who was found dead inside a manhole earlier this month appears to be an accidental death.
At the Washington Washington County Board of Supervisors’ first meeting of the new year, both the county engineer and county attorney were replaced after a motion was made by the board’s newest addition, Mala Brooks.

CLINTON, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say four people are dead and a suspect is in custody after a domestic dispute in Mississippi led to a fatal hostage standoff.
Clinton city spokesman Mark Jones says the incident began about 2:30 a.m. Saturday inside a Clinton home and lasted for about 12 hours.
