GRS offers free online ACT Prep session, cut in-person programs

School is out for the summer but ACT Prep is in with Greenville Renaissance Scholars’ (GRS) new, no cost, online ACT Prep offering.

The online ACT Prep program, which GRS is calling “Conquering the Test,” will begin May 30 and run through June 6 with sessions starting each day from 9 a.m. until noon.

A few years ago, the Steve Miller Band released a very fitting song that had lyrics within that were more memorable than the song’s title. “Time keeps on slippin’ slippin’ slippin into the future” is the catchy part of the song, but the song’s title, “Fly Like an Eagle” provides advice on how to best spend that time.

Feds back Temple Baptist Church, Simmons stands firm on order

After fines were levied against members of Temple Baptist Church for holding a drive-in church service, the Alliance for Defending Freedom filed a civil suit in the Northern District Court of Mississippi on Good Friday, April 10.

The federal government, through the Department of Justice, issued a statement of interest Tuesday.

In lieu of this year’s canceled Mighty Mississippi Music Festival, the 20th annual Highway 61 Blues Festival is returning to its home base of Leland.
