‘Murder on the Orient Express’ opens Thursday at DCS

Only one more day remains before people can head over to Delta Center Stage to try and figure out the mysterious events of the production, “Murder on the Orient Express.”

“Murder on the Orient Express” is set to run Thursday-Sunday and will also be this season’s annual dinner theater for two nights, Friday and Saturday.


How to avoid frozen pipes as cold weather continues

The weather this week has been cold, really cold, with a freeze warning that is expected to end sometime Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, temperatures this week in Greenville dropped to a low of 20 degrees Tuesday evening but are picking up a little Wednesday with a high of 46 degrees.


Local officials meet, discuss goals for MVSU through efforts, opportunities at GHEC

There was a meeting of the minds Tuesday to discuss how the goals of increased enrollment at Mississippi Valley State University, a strong work force in Washington County and greater access to educational opportunities could be achieved with the Greenville Higher Education Center (GHEC) serving as the catalyst for reaching those goals.

Washington County, statewide results are in, absentee ballots still being tallied

Incumbents held on to each of their seats except in the District 4 supervisor vote won by Mala Brooks by a mere 13 votes over incumbent Jesse Amos. The more than 700 absentee ballots have yet to be counted in any races as of press time.

Of the 32,026 registered voters in Washington County, 11001 cast ballots in the Tuesday election.


Reeves wins governor's race

Republicans are keeping their hold on the governorship in Mississippi, despite facing the best-funded Democrat in more than a decade.

Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves on Tuesday defeated Democratic Attorney General Jim Hood and two candidates who ran low-budget campaigns.

Woman charged with attempted murder after fight at gas station

A woman turned herself in to the Greenville Police Department Wednesday afternoon for a violent fight that broke out Tuesday night at a local gas station.

Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant said 34-year-old Jacquetia Davis has been charged with attempted murder for an altercation involving beer bottles and a firearm.
