Local men reflect on fathers’ World War II stories

Dr. Ed Egger and Dr. Bill Schaffarzick have been friends for decades and they have a lot of similarities.

They are the quintessential baby boomers. They are both in the medical profession. Egger is an ophthalmologist and Schaffarzick is a dentist.

They like to hunt and fish. Both can tell a good hunting story.

1 man arrested in connection to shooting child

A man is behind bars for a shooting that sent a 12-year-old girl to a Jackson hospital, and more arrests are expected to follow.

On Monday, GPD officers arrested 21-year-old Kelvin Lewis in the 500 block of South Broadway Street.

Lewis was arrested in connection to the early Sunday morning shooting on Eighth Street.

She died Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, under the direction of Byas Funeral Home, Greenville.
