Residents face aftermath of damaging weekend storms

Scottie Saulter was busy Saturday afternoon working to saw off limbs from a large tree that had fallen from his neighbor’s yard at his home in Metcalfe, crushing his fence and barely missing his house. 

He said it was about 3:30 a.m. when he and his family heard the strong winds making their way through their neighborhood.

Turner no longer city’s zoning and planning department director

After half a year at the helm, Mack-Arthur Turner Jr. will no longer lead the city's planning and zoning department.

Decided by a majority vote of the city council, Turner will no longer serve as the director of planning and zoning for the City of Greenville, effectively immediately.

GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Ola Mae Wilson were at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 13, at Emmanuel Baptist Church. She passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at Delta Regional Medical Center, after an extended illness.  Burial was in Greenville Cemetery, under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

Police investigate human remains found on Christmas Day

Greenville police are investigating the remains of a human body discovered on Christmas Day.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department got a call from a concerned resident shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday about human remains found in a wooded area in the 700 block of Clay Street. A firearm was also found next to the body.
