Bullet, hole found inside local church early Sunday morning

Hours before church service was set to begin, there was a shooting early Sunday morning at Greater Faith Tabernacle Church.

Charles Fisher, pastor of Greater Faith Tabernacle on Burning Bush Drive, said his wife woke him up at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning, terrified by the noises she though have been gunfire.




O'Bannon's Coach Carter named Delta Democrat-Times Boys Basketball Coach of the Year

Torrione Carter took over the reins of the O’Bannon High School boys basketball program after former head coach George Christian died of cancer just weeks before the 2016-2017 season.

In the beginning, things were not easy for Coach Carter and his Greenwave players. The loss of a mentor and a friend was a tough blow for them all.

I have the utmost respect for educators as it is a career I never want to be in. Teachers, without a doubt, don’t get the credit they deserve. Not only do they sit with a class full of children who come from various backgrounds to teach them the same lessons, they also deal with the constant pressures of district and state testing.

Police investigate human remains found on Christmas Day

Greenville police are investigating the remains of a human body discovered on Christmas Day.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department got a call from a concerned resident shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday about human remains found in a wooded area in the 700 block of Clay Street. A firearm was also found next to the body.
