DCS postpones summer youth musical, making plans for short plays

Plans for the summer youth musical at Delta Center Stage have had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Delta Center Stage Executive Director Tim Bixler said the initial plans to produce Disney’s “Frozen Jr.” have been indefinitely postponed as there is not enough consensus on what is considered safe regarding crowd size.

City water department: Bills being sent late due to COVID-19 setbacks

Local teen charged in uncle’s stabbing death

A Greenville teenager is behind bars for the stabbing death of his uncle.

At 1:13 p.m. Monday, July 15, officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the 1200 block of Belfast Street. Inside the home, officers found the body of a 37-year-old black male, who has been identified as Jermaine Sanders.

Man arrested, charged for Friday night shooting that left 1 dead, 1 injured

A man has been charged with murder for a shooting that left one man dead and another in critical condition.

At 11:30 p.m. Friday, officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of West Alexander Street in reference to two shot people.


Greenville’s newest hotel, Tru by Hilton, opens its doors Thursday

Tru by Hilton, Greenville’s newest lodging attraction, is set to open its doors to guests Thursday evening. 

The 84-room hotel that broke ground in July 2018 is a joint partnership formed by the Chawla and Retzer families — Suresh Chawla, Mike Retzer and Michael Retzer.

Temple Baptist Church members issued $500 tickets for parking lot service

The phone rang at the mayor’s office earlier this week and the voice on the line said, “We’re having church on Wednesday, no matter what.”

The caller, according to Greenville Mayor Errick Simmons, claimed to be the pastor of Temple Baptist Church on Reed Road in Greenville.
