LELAND — The Leland Department is seeking the public’s help to find and arrest 27-year-old Indianola resident Latarius Howard.
Leland Police Department Assistant Police Chief Marcus Davis said Howard has outstanding warrants for possession of a controlled substance and weapon possession by a felon.
Incumbents held on to each of their seats except in the District 4 supervisor vote won by Mala Brooks by a mere 13 votes over incumbent Jesse Amos. The more than 700 absentee ballots have yet to be counted in any races as of press time.
Of the 32,026 registered voters in Washington County, 11001 cast ballots in the Tuesday election.
Gun shots claimed the life of Joe Sykes, 64, of Greenville, Saturday evening in the 400th block of Sunflower Street, near Doe’s Eat Place.
A local man has died after being shot several times early this morning.
At 2:36 a.m., officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the 1100 block of John Street in reference to shots fired in the area.
Greenville police are investigating the remains of a human body discovered on Christmas Day.
Officers with the Greenville Police Department got a call from a concerned resident shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday about human remains found in a wooded area in the 700 block of Clay Street. A firearm was also found next to the body.

A three-vehicle wreck at one of Greenville’s busiest intersections sent six people, including four children, to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.
