Fire Marshal Vernon Murphree gave his final goodbye this week to the Greenville Fire Department after 25 years of service.
Murphree has been long time member of the fire department since graduating the academy in 1994 alongside Chief Ruben Brown.

MADISON — Funeral services for Spencer Cole Noble, 32, of Madison, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Natchez Trace Funeral Home, Madison. He passed away in his sleep Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019. Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. at the Greenville Cemetery.

A teenager has been arrested and charged for a shooting this week that injured a man at a local store.
Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant said 18-year-old Romeo Hurt, of Greenville, was identified as the suspect who shot into a store in the 900 block of St. Charles Street shortly after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Incumbents held on to each of their seats except in the District 4 supervisor vote won by Mala Brooks by a mere 13 votes over incumbent Jesse Amos. The more than 700 absentee ballots have yet to be counted in any races as of press time.
Of the 32,026 registered voters in Washington County, 11001 cast ballots in the Tuesday election.
