A half million dollar bond was set this week for the man who shot and killed another during an argument.
The $500,000 bond for 18-year-old Fabulous Carter, who remains in custody, was set Monday by Judge Michael Prewitt.
Carter was charged with Capital Murder for the Jan. 26 shooting of 21-year-old Laquint Johnson.
At 11:22 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, officers with the Greenville Police Department responded to a call in reference to a shot person on South Beauchamp Avenue.
When officers arrived on scene, they were told the shot person had been transported to (Delta Health-The Medical Center) by personal vehicle and investigators with the Criminal Investigation Division began to follow up, according to Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant.
The preliminary investigation revealed18-year-old Fabulous Carter and 21-year-old Laquint Johnson met in the 300 block of South Beauchamp Avenue, where an argument between the two started.
During the argument, Carter produced a handgun, which led to both men being shot.
“A struggle over the handguns resulted in Johnson being shot three times and Carter being shot once,” Merchant said.
Carter was transported to Poplar Street by 20-year-old Justin Lowe, where an ambulance was then called to take him to the hospital.
“The Greenville Police Department was called about another shot person in the area of Poplar Street, which turned out to be Carter,” Merchant said.
Johnson was taken to the hospital by personal vehicle, where he then died.
Carter was released from the hospital Friday afternoon.
Lowe was arrested and charged with Accessory After the Fact and was given a $15,000 bond.
