GREENVILLE — Graveside services for Florence Mae Scott-Brown, affectionately known as Flo, 67, of Greenville, will be at noon Saturday, March 20, at Delta Memorial Gardens, Greenville, with Dr. Albert Hines Sr. officiating. On March 15, 2021, Flo exchanged her earthly life for her eternal one.
She was born June 15, 1953, to Mary and Monroe Hawkins in Greenville. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of the Greenville High School’s first integrated graduating class of 1971. In 1969, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Clyde Scott, who precedes her in death. Florence spent the latter years of her life serving as a cage cashier at the local casinos, retiring from the Trop Casino in 2011. In 2019, she married Abner Brown Jr. Florence was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Monroe Hawkins.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories; her husband, Abner Brown Jr.; two daughters, Sabrina Cortes, of Houston TX, and Koreda Brown, of Greenville; three sons, Jeffrey (Kenyatta) Scott, of Greenville, Harold (Nikki) Scott, of Memphis, TN, and Ralpheal Scott, of Greenville; five sisters, Gloria (Willie) Dukes, of Greenville, Lillian Hawkins, of Greenville, Claddie Tucker, of Los Angeles, CA, Okretha Hatcher, of Corona, CA, and Joyce Ann Lewis, of Maywood, IL; three brothers, James Hawkins, of Greenville, Henry Pate, of Greenville, and Charles Pate, of Greenville; her best friend, Dorothy Haggard; 15 grandchildren; three special grandchildren she assisted in rearing, Jordan Scott, Jada Scott, and Christopher Thornsburg; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
