Steven Halland
GREENVILLE — Steven Halland graced the world with his presence on April 7, 1993, and left us far too soon on March 29, 2021. As a boy, Steven loved playing football and baseball. In his later years, muscular dystrophy meant that Steven was more of a spectator than a player, and anyone who met him could tell you his favorite team was Mississippi State. He was the epitome of a gentle giant, a quiet and loving presence who cherished nothing more than an evening spent chatting with his friends — especially at Camp Looking Glass, where Steven had been a camper since the early 2010s.
Steven joins in heaven two Camp Looking Glass family members that he never got to meet, Katy and Chris, and he will be missed dearly by his Camp Looking Glass family. He is survived by his mother, Geneva Halland; his cousin, Fred Zollicoffer Jr.; and the rest of his loving family in Chicago and Mississippi, Bill and Lacy Hite and their entire family, many Mississippi State Bulldog supporters, as well as caregivers and residents of Legacy Manor. The most important decision in Steven’s life was his acceptance of Jesus Christ. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and was supported by many friends there.
There will be a community celebration of Steven’s life at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 24, outside at the Camp Looking Glass land (539 Wilcox Road, Greenville - Wilcox Road between Main Extended and Hwy 82), followed by a private ceremony for Camp family at 11 a.m. We ask that attendees wear a mask and practice social distancing.
