CLEVELAND — Washington School’s Joseph Smith hit a home run in the top of the sixth inning on Tuesday, but it was not enough for the Generals to overcome an early deficit in their 5-3 road loss to Bayou Academy.
Bayou Academy took the lead early by scoring two runs in the second inning and one run in the third inning.
General Hunter Tressell had a pair of hits for Washington School, and he also drove in two runs in the top of the fourth when Smith and Smith and John Chandler Lyles touched home plate.
Washington School’s record fell to 5-8 with the loss, and the Generals are scheduled to host Pillow Academy in a double header on Thursday.
General Harper Ross pitched a complete game for his team, striking out eight batters and walking just one.
Bayou Academy’s Reese Province struck out ten batters in five innings of work, and Larson Ingram struck out five batters in the game’s final two innings.
