An order to change the District 4-1 voting precinct location — Elk’s Lodge — to House of Prayer C.O.G.I.C. was rescinded last Wednesday, per District 4 Election Commissioner Sadie Seard.
The reason for the rescission is due to unforeseen issues, one being that it would have caused the redoing of ballots that have already been ordered for the election — a likely time consuming and cumbersome process.
The Elk’s Lodge will remain the official polling precinct for voters in District 4-1 on Election Day, Nov. 3.
At their last regular Monday meeting, the Washington County Board of Supervisors voted in favor of the change in precinct.
Some members of the BOS’ main concern was giving the voters who would be affected by the change enough notice and making sure that notice casted a wide enough net over District 4-1.
Seard had recommended using House of Prayer C.O.G.I.C. as an alternative to the Elk’s Lodge out of concern it would not be prepared and up to par for voters by the time Election Day arrived.
District 4-1 voters will report to the Elk’s Lodge, 1818 Alexander St., as in recent elections.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3.
