Greenville police are seeking the public’s help to find two men who robbed a local Dollar General Thursday night.

Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant said the robbery happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. Thursday night at Dollar General, 1799 Highway 1 N.

Two black males entered the store with their faces covered and both pulled out a handgun, according to the GPD police statement.

‘The store employees (told police) the suspects demanded the money and assaulted one of the employees,” Merchant said, noting the female store employee that was assaulted was treated and released from the hospital.

The men, who both appeared to be about 6-feet tall, then fled the area with an undisclosed amount of money. The men fled in an unknown vehicle eastbound on Abide Road.

“Investigators of the Criminal Investigations Unit are actively following up on all leads,” Merchant said.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Greenville Police Department at 662-378-1515 or Crimestoppers at 662-378-8477.
