DARLOVE — Funeral services for Laura Hunter, 77, of Darlove, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Mount Zion, Darlove, with the Rev. James Gray officiating. She died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020. Burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery, Darlove, under the direction of Sanders-Byas Funeral Home, Hollandale.

Wave seniors leave behind a true legacy brotherhood

One third of the O’Bannon Greenwaves boys’ basketball team played their final home game on Friday night. Kaylon Swilley, Octavia Wilson, Zion Jessie, Curtis Austin, Javorious Jackson and Kentarious Castion exit the program leaving a legacy that will either have the faithful saying, “what if” or “they put it together just at the right time.”

When the weather switches from fall to winter, Washington School’s Bogan Brewer, the Planters Bank Player of the Week, moves from linebacker on the football team to goalie for the soccer team.

While the sports are different, Brewer plays both positions with many of the same principals.

Police investigate human remains found on Christmas Day

Greenville police are investigating the remains of a human body discovered on Christmas Day.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department got a call from a concerned resident shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday about human remains found in a wooded area in the 700 block of Clay Street. A firearm was also found next to the body.

Local teen charged in uncle’s stabbing death

A Greenville teenager is behind bars for the stabbing death of his uncle.

At 1:13 p.m. Monday, July 15, officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the 1200 block of Belfast Street. Inside the home, officers found the body of a 37-year-old black male, who has been identified as Jermaine Sanders.

Man arrested, charged for Friday night shooting that left 1 dead, 1 injured

A man has been charged with murder for a shooting that left one man dead and another in critical condition.

At 11:30 p.m. Friday, officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of West Alexander Street in reference to two shot people.
