Runners, joggers and walkers alike will be treading quickly as the ninth annual Mississippi River Marathon is set to get underway at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Forecaster Eric Carpenter said marathoners can expect temperatures of about 37 degrees right before the race commences.
“As of now, it looks partly cloudy, but I anticipate a little more sun than clouds,” he said.
Carpenter also said to expect winds of 5 to 10 mph coming from the east on Saturday that may pick up slightly as the morning progresses.
Temperatures are predicted to rise between the lower and mid 50s by noon.
The 2021 Mississippi River Marathon Expo and Packet Pick-Up will take place at the Leyser Gallery Building at 301 Washington Ave., Greenville.
Packet pick-up will take place from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5.
For those unable to make it on Friday, packet pick-up will be available for free from 5:15 a.m to 6 a.m Saturday before the buses depart at 6:30 a.m.
