Anson Sheldon III
CLEVELAND, Ala. — Anson “Reb” Hoisington Sheldon III, 49, of Cleveland, Alabama, passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2020, at St. Vincent’s East Hospital. Born in Greenville, Mississippi, “Reb” graduated from Riverside High School and went on to play football at Mississippi Delta Community College. He later received his Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture at University of Arkansas at Monticello.
“Reb” loved his career in the Oil and Gas Industry, where he worked in Seismic and Logistics for Schlumberger, Fairfield Nodal, and CGG Veritas. He loved fishing on the Mississippi River; enjoyed hunting; was an avid snorkeler and an Ole Miss Rebel fan.
Mr. Sheldon was preceded in death by his grandparents, Anson and Beatrice Sheldon; Judge` and Rivers Stewart; and his uncle, Lawson Sheldon.
Left to cherish precious memories are his wife, Diana “Shelly” Welch Sheldon; daughters, Lacey Alden Burkis (Nathan), Natalie Claire Morphis and Lofton Reed Morphis; parents, Anson and Melinda Sheldon Jr.; a sister, Scarlett Sheldon Robinson (Ed); a niece, Rivers Robinson, Elizabeth Robinson; a nephew, Guy Robinson; a cousin, George Lawson Sheldon; and a host of other relatives and lots of friends.
The family will hold a memorial service from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29 at the Riverside High School, Avon, for all friends and family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home.
