GREENVILLE — Barbara Ann Stewart Winters, 78, of Greenville, passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at Mississippi Extended Care Center, Greenville, after she lost her battle with cancer. Barbara was born Oct. 1, 1940, to Winfred and Mae Stewart, of Toccopola. She graduated from Toccopola High School in 1959; then she married Billy Brooks Winter, of Toccopola, the same year. She and her husband moved to Greenville in 1962, where the made their home. She retired from U.S. Axminster Carpet Mill in Greenville after 27 years of service. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Greenville. She loved gardening, making jelly, canning fruits and vegetables, and loved to cook for her family and friends. She was the truest definition of Southern Hospitality.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; two brothers, Winfred Stewart Jr. and Dean Stewart; and a sister, Ila Faye Bishop.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Billy Winters; son, Glenn Winters, of Walker, Louisiana; two daughters, Sissy Rivers, of Rogers, Arkansas, and Linda McKee, of Greenville; grandchildren, Kailey Weaver, Jody Rivers and Joshua Rivers, all of Rogers, Arkansas; Christy Miranda and Amy Thomas, both of Watson, Louisiana, Leslie Grantham and Cayton Permenter, both of Greenville; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jimmy Stewart, of Gulfport, and Kenneth Stewart, of Mize; sister, Brenda Miller, of New Albany; she also leaves a special “bonus” daughter, Debbie Jefcoat, of Rogers, Arkansas; and many precious nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Mortimer Funeral Home, Greenville. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Lakeview Gardens, Greenville.
