Charles Brown Sr.
GREENVILLE — Charles Ray Brown Sr., 76, of Greenville, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, at Delta Regional Medical Center. He was born March 2, 1943, in Louisiana. Charles worked hard all his life and worked for over 34 years as a welder at the Greenville Ship Building. He loved cutting grass, spending time in his garden, hunting and fishing, and was an avid New Orleans Saints fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Monroe and Laura May Taylor Brown; his sisters, Bobbie Jean Evans and Clarence Banks; and a granddaughter, Brittany Leigh Ann Phillips.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Brown; their four children, Carlos Brown (Charlotte), of Greenville, Sandra Phillips (Michael), of Hollandale, Mike Brown (Tammy), of Arcola, and Betty Oswalt, of Greenville; and sisters, Christine Hedding and Emma June Pugh. Other survivors include Wade Phillips, Wesley Phillips (Raven), Tiffany Phillips, Michael Brown Jr., David Brown, Jessica Nicole Martin (George), Micah Beadle (Brandy), Morgan Beadle; great-grandchildren, John Gavin Beadle, Makayla Brown, Addie Jones, Kynzleigh Anderson, Matthew Drake Anderson, Wyatt Dean Brown and Isabella Marie Phillips.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Thursday Oct. 10, at Mortimer Funeral Home in Greenville, with a graveside service following at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers include Chuck Ramsey, Micah Beadle, Wade Phillips, Wesley Phillips, Michael Brown Jr. and David Brown. Honorary pallbearer is Morgan Beadle.
