GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Edna Merie Donley Hammons, 91, of Greenville, will be held Thursday. She passed away Monday, May 25, 2020, at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be in Linn Methodist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Mrs. Hammons was born in Lansing, Michigan, where she graduated from high school. She later moved to Bolivar County, where she met and married Jesse Hammons in 1952. She was employed with Retzer and Retzer for many years, retiring in 1991. Mrs. Hammons moved to Izard County, Arkansas, and then back to Greenville in 2016. She was a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was an avid gardener and seamstress.
She is survived by three daughters, Debra Wright (Bill), of Springdale, Arkansas, Charlotte Crose (Mark), of Greenville, and Carolyn Parr, of Hattiesburg; a son, William Hammons (Vista), of Greenville; brother, Howard Donley; two sisters, Elizabeth Corbin and Sarah Donley; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
