LELAND — Funeral services for Emma McVane, 84, of Leland, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at New Jerusalem Temple Church of God and Christ, Leland. She died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019, at her home. Burial will follow in Bogue Memorial Gardens, Leland, under the direction of Dillon Funeral Home, Leland.
Ms. Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Mollie Strahan; one son, Roger McVane; five sisters; four brothers; and one grandson, Daniel Taylor Jones.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of Jerusalem Temple. Ms. McVane was a dietician and a wonderful cook. She worked for King’s Daughters Hospital and Connie’s Kitchen of Leland until she retired.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Floyd McVane, of Leland; six granddaughters, Alecia Tigler and Amberly (Terrell) Nash, both of Leland, Le’Shunda Ratliff, of Fridley, Minnesota, Delisa Hamilton, of Southaven, Brittany (Carlos) Hernandez, of Hampton, Virginia, and Cornisha Atkins, of Hollandale; two grandsons, Ricardo (Ja’Lisa) Tigler and Ken (Johnnesha) Vallery, both of Greenville; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and a special friend, Sister Ella Dixon.
