GREENVILLE — Funeral services for Freddie Lee Ford, 80, of Greenville, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at St. Luke MB Church, Metcalfe, with Pastor Frank Hall Jr. officiating. He died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, at Allegiance Specialty Hospital. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery, under the direction of Redmon Funeral Home, Greenville.
Freddie was born Masaure McKay and John Ford Sr. on Feb. 19, 1939, in James Crossing. He attended Coleman High School.
Freddie was united in holy matrimony July 12, 2015, to Katie Mabry, of Greenville. He professed hope in Christ and was baptized at an early age. After many years, he dedicated his life to Christ at Friendship MB Church, under the leadership of Pastor Frank Hall Jr., where he remained a faithful servant until his death.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Ford Sr.; his mother, Masaure McKay; a son, Ricardo Gales; and a brother, John Ford Jr.
He leaves to cherish and live his legacy a faithful wife, Katie Ford, of Greenville; three daughters, Beverly Michelle (Hubert) Owens, of Orlando, Florida, Deshondra Gales, of Greenville, and Leneda “Pink” Dorsey, of Chicago; a son, Kelvin Wesley, of Jackson; a brother, John Ford Sr., of Atlanta; a sister, Margaret (Norman) Gipson, of Belton, Missouri; two stepdaughters, Thelma Williams and Susie Wigfall, both of Greenville; six stepsons, Damayon (Jessica) King, of Fort Worth, Texas, Claude Williams, of Memphis, Tennessee, Larry Hicks, Earnest Williams, Tracy (Tecola) Williams and Timothy (Mildred) Williams, all of Greenville; a special niece and nephew, Sonya McKinley, of Greenville, and Brian Ford, of Columbus, Ohio; a lifelong friend, Charles McGinnist, of Greenville; five grandchildren; 24 step grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at the funeral home.
