GREENVILLE — Graveside services for Janice LaRay Buford Cummings, 67, of Greenville, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at Lakewood Cemetery, Greenville, with the Rev. Melvin Motton officiating. She died Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at her home. Viewing will be from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at Redmon Funeral Home Chapel, Greenville.
Janice was born Sept. 24, 1954, in Greenville, to Denotra Buford. She attended Greenville Public Schools and graduated in 1972.
Janice accepted Christ and was baptized at 10 years old at the Star of Bethlehem MB Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. J.F. Redmon. There, she was an active secretary of the Sunday School and assistant secretary of the church, where she remained an active member until death.
She was employed with McDonald’s, Leroy Percy Library, Washington County Health Department and Sentry Net Security.
Her lifetime ministry was serving and helping people. After fully retiring in 2010, she pursued line dancing, master gardening and church fellowship.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, Denotra Lee (mother); three sisters, Linda O’Neil (Larry), Reba Lee, and Margot Lee, of Marietta, Georgia; a brother, Don Green, of Saginaw, Michigan; three nieces, Janet M. Johnson, of Orlando, Florida, Erica Wims, of Saginaw, Michigan, Victoria D. Johnson, of Greenville; a nephew, Andre Pittman Sr., of Arlington, Texas; two aunts, Rosie Preston and Emma Jean McKiever, of Chicago, Illinois; special relationships, brother, Ronnie Mack (Doris); goddaughter, Casandra Shead; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
